Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) — September, 2018 The All-India CPI-IW for September, 2018 remained stationary at 301 (three hundred and one).

On 1-month percentage change, it remained static between August, 2018 and September, 2018 and it was also static between the corresponding months of previous year.

The maximum downward pressure to the change in current index came from Food group contributing (-) 0.75 percentage points to the total change. At item level, Groundnut Oil, Eggs (Hen), Fish Fresh, Poultry (Chicken), Onion, French Beans, Gourd, Lady Finger, Potato, Tomato, Apple, Coconut, Sugar, etc. are responsible for the decrease in index.

However, this decrease was checked by Rice, Wheat, Wheat Atta, Cauliflower, Peas, Banana, Tea (Ready made), Electricity Charges, Doctor’s Fee, Bus Fare, Petrol, Flowers/Flower Garlands, etc., putting upward pressure on the index.

The year-on-year inflation based on CPI-IW remained stationary at 5.61 per cent between August and September, 2018 as compared to 2.89 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year.

Similarly, the Food inflation stood at 0.00 per cent against (-) 0.32 per cent of the previous month and 1.30 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year.

At centre level Puducherry reported the maximum decrease of 9 points followed by Goa (7 points). Among others, 5 points decrease was observed in 3 centres, 3 points in 4 centres, 2 points in 3 centres and 1 point in 11 centres. On the contrary, Jharia recorded a maximum increase of 6 points followed by Nagpur (5 points).

Among others, 4 points increase was observed in 2 centres, 3 points in 2 centres, 2 points in 11 centres and 1 point in 14 centres. Rest of the 24 centres’ indices remained stationary.

The indices of 37 centres are above All-India Index and 41 centres’ indices are below national average.

The next issue of CPI-IW for the month of October, 2018 will be released on Friday, 30th November, 2018. The same will also be available on the office website www.labourbureaunew.gov.in.

CPI (IW) for the month of July 2018

The All India Consumer Price Index Numbers for Industrial Workers on base 2001=100 for the month of July 2018 is increased by 10 points and stands at 301.

Dearness Allowance for Central Government Employees (also Dearness Relief for Central Government Pensioners) is calculated based on All India Consumer Price Index Numbers declared by Labour Bureau under Ministry of Labour and Employment in the last day of every month.

DA and DR to existing employees and pensioners is being given twice in a year, i.e., Jan to Jun and Jul to Dec.

This year first instalment of DA and DR from January to June 2018 approved by the Cabinet Committee and waiting for Finance Ministry Notification.

9% DA and DR to CG Employees and Pensioners form July 2018

2% Additional DA from July 2018 Cabinet Approved Today

Today Union Cabinet approved to hike 2% Additional DA & DR for CG Employees and Pensioners with effect from July 2018

Cabinet approves additional 2 percent Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners w.e.f. 1st July, 2018

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modihas approved to release an additional installment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners w.e.f. 01.07.2018 representing an increase of 2% over the existing rate of 7% of the Basic Pay/Pension, to compensate for price rise.

The combined impact on the exchequer on account of both Dearness Allowance and Deamess Relief would be Rs.6112.20 crore per annum and Rs.4074.80 crore in the financial year 2018-19 (for a period of 08 months from July, 2018 to February, 2019).

This will benefit about 48.41 lakh Central Government employees and 62.03 lakh pensioners.

This increase is in accordance with the accepted formula, which is based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission.

Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-1W) — June, 2018

The All-India CPI-IW for June, 2018 increased by 2 points and pegged at 291 (two hundred and ninety one). On 1-month percentage change, it increased by (+) 0.69 per cent between May, 2018 and June, 2018 when compared with the increase of (+) 0.72 per cent between the corresponding months of previous year.

The maximum upward pressure to the change in current index came from Food group contributing (+) 1.86 percentage points to the total change. At item level, Rice, Fish Fresh, Eggs (Hen), Onion, Brinjal, Cabbage, Cauliflower, French Bean, Gourd, Potato, Tomato, Sugar, Electricity Charges, Doctor’s Fee.

Medicine (Allopathic), Sercondary School Fee, Petrol, etc. are responsible for the increase in index. However, this increase was checked by Groundnut Oil, Banana, Coconut, Lemon, Mango (Ripe), Parval, Primary School Fee, etc., putting downward pressure on the index.

The year-on-year inflation based on CPI-IW stood at 3.93 per cent for June, 2018 as compared to 3.96 per cent for the previous month and 1.08 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year.

Similarly, the Food inflation stood at 0.97 per cent against 1.66 per cent of the previous month and (-) 1.28 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year.

At centre level Quilon reported the maximum increase of 10 points followed by Jharia (7 points) and Rourkela (6 points). Among others, 5 points increase was observed in 4 centres, 4 points in 10 centres, 3 points in 12 centres, 2 points in 16 centres and 1 point in 18 centres.

On the contrary, Darjeeling recorded a maximum decrease of 2 points followed by Hyderabad with 1 point. Rest of the 13 centres’ indices remained stationary.

The indices of 37 centres are above All-India Index and 39 centres’ indices are below national average. The indices of Jalandhar and Jabalpur centres remained at par with All-India Index.

The next issue of CPI-IW for the month of July, 2018 will be released on Friday, 31st August, 2018. The same will also be available on the office website www.labourbureaunew.gov.in.
