Pongal falls on Wednesday (15.1.2020)

A detailed list of Government Closed Holidays for the year 2020 in Tamil Nadu

Recently the Tamil Nadu Government has published an order attached with a list of Government Public Holidays during the year 2020.

According to the order, Public Holidays declared under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 will be published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette. And the Government Holidays declared for all the offices under the control of TN Govt.

All Saturdays and Sundays declared as holidays.

5 Days for Pongal in 2020

The important festival of Pongal falls on Wednesday (15.1.2020) and the next day Thiruvalluva Day and then Uzhavar Thirunal on 17th January 2020 (Friday). The main festival of Pongal starts from 15th January and ends on 19th January 2020 (including Saturday and Sunday).

Republic Day, Muharram and Ayutha Pooja falls on Sunday (26.1.2020) and Bakrid, Independence Day, vinayakar Chathurthi and Deepavali falls on Saturday.

In generally, the public holidays are declared under Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Central Act XXVI of 1881) by the State Government to its offices and the commercial, Co-operative banks. The State Government of Tamil Nadu declared public holidays for the year 2020 and also published in Gazette.

5 Day work in Tamil Nadu Government offices, all Saturdays and Sundays are remain closed.
